The Quality Practice Scheme has launched!

When QPS membership is awarded it indicates the team’s hard work and commitment to quality, safety, patient care and continuous improvement. It brings the team together and helps the practice to meet all the necessary compliance requirements while being considered to be an accreditation programme, something the CQC are very keen to see.

Congratulations to the QPS founding practices

We are pleased to announce that eight out of 21 CODE Quality Practice Scheme (QPS) early adopters have achieved membership so far and enjoyed a presentation of membership in their practices.

When QPS membership is awarded it indicates the team’s hard work and commitment to quality, safety, patient care and continuous improvement. It brings the team together and helps the practice to meet all the necessary compliance requirements while being considered to be an accreditation programme, something the CQC are very keen to see.

The iComply Application leads subscribers step by step through dental compliance and quality improvement, but with QPS membership you can also demonstrate to patients, the team and the profession that you are meeting high standards. When you achieve membership you are awarded a wall plaque, certificate and press pack.

Does the Quality Practice Scheme give me more work?

When you use the iComply application the team are led through compliance requirements each month. As long as these are followed, at the end of the year the practice will have covered all the major requirements and can be inspected for QPS membership. There is no additional work for you to do and the iComply team will provide you with additional support to meet your compliance needs.

This comes in the form of a quarterly monitoring service where our team checks that your staff are carrying out the compliance activities in iComply and entering them into the programme properly. Each quarter, a letter is sent to the principal and practice manager, telling them how the team are doing and pointing out any steps that need to be taken to put things on track.

Karina, practice manager at Goldsworth Road Dental Practice, explained how the scheme helped her and the team: ‘The Quality Practice Scheme has helped us a lot, we’ve had lots of support from the team and having Alex carry out a mock inspection for us was very useful in preparing us for our CQC inspection. We feel that iComply and QPS gives us the continued support we need going forward.’

How is membership of the Quality Practice Scheme awarded?

When you have completed the first cycle in iComply, which usually takes a year, you can arrange your first annual inspection. Our own inspector will check against the CODE Total Quality Management Standards (TQM). If you follow the iComply workflow you should be able to reach these, and the monitoring service helps you along the way. An action list for any outstanding compliance is provided where necessary, once met, membership can be awarded.

The Quality Practice Scheme
Why should I join?

There are many benefits for your practice and patients, both in terms of improved quality standards, team enthusiasm and additional support to stay compliant. For Louise, practice manager at TLC 4 Smiles, the mock inspection was a big draw: ‘I’ve been using iComply for a couple of years but what attracted me to the Quality Practice Scheme was the inspection; just having someone come in to tell us what we were doing right or wrong, I thought that would be very handy. What I hadn’t expected was just how in depth the CODE inspection would be! I was really surprised and very impressed with how thorough it was; I hoped that we were doing right but there was always that thought in the back of my mind wondering if we were doing enough, the inspection gave me the peace of mind to know that we were.’

Added to that is the pride the team feels from recognition of their work and quality focus. Louise added: ‘I can’t even begin to explain how pleased we are to have been awarded our membership! I couldn’t live without iComply and the Quality Practice Scheme, it’s such a fantastic tool that really keeps us on track with our compliance and we feel confident to face a CQC inspection when it happens.’ Karina agrees: ‘It feels really good to have achieved our QPS membership; we have worked hard to follow our clinical governance properly using iComply so we’re really proud of our award!’

How do I join?

Members of iComply can subscribe by contacting the CODE office. The QPS fee is £99 per month with a joining fee of £250, which is waived if you join both iComply and QPS at the same time. When you’ve completed the first cycle of iComply you will qualify to apply for QPS membership.
